about chemocharity
Humble Beginnings
ChemoCharity began in 2004 rooted in simple small acts of service after our founder, Keith Petersen, was first diagnosed with cancer. Family & friends donated money to purchase gift cards for distribution by oncology nurses to patients struggling financially or lacking support to help them through treatment. The gift cards were distributed to patients for purchasing groceries, gas, or medication. A greater variety of cards were provided around holidays such as Christmas to provide resources for gift-giving and other needs. With every passing year, greater support came pouring in from selfless individuals contributing to the gift card fund.
In 2019, ChemoCharity was established as a nonprofit organization, operated by the Petersen family in loving memory of Keith, who passed on after a courageous 15 year battle with cancer.
Our Mission
The ChemoCharity mission is to provide a sense of normalcy to the patients during unfamiliar and unexpected periods of their lives. Our contributions serve as peace of mind, if even for a small moment, during otherwise turbulent times. We provide direct financial assistance and, even more so, hope to cancer patients; aiding daily necessities as well as providing support during holiday seasons when the stress of medical bills & treatment place a heavy burden on families during times which should be filled with celebration & joy.
Your Contributions
It’s important to know where your selfless & hard earned donations are going. We’re proud to announce that 100% of donations go directly to the purchasing and distribution of gift cards to cancer patients in need. Each & every dollar donated serves as a catalyst for a smile, a hug, & tears of joy; as newfound hope, a deepened sense of community, and an anchor of support.
